Model Advice - Concerning Modeling Schools

Question:
I heard there are special modeling schools. Do I need to go there to become a model?

No you don't.
I teach at a modeling school and think it's a great asset for a young person to develop inner confidence and poise, to learn how to walk the catwalk, how to pose and how to properly use make up. However, modeling schools are generally expensive and aren't going to teach you how to be a model. You can only learn this through working and being in the business for a while.

The best way to learn modeling is by watching fashion shows on TV, taping them and trying to imitate the model walk, the turns, the posture. It helps to take many photos of yourself ( a fun thing to do with a friend,) and then study your facial expressions, your best angles, your not-so-flattering parts, by looking at those shots. It helps to look at magazines, such as

Allure, for tips on make up and hair, and fashion magazines, to learn how to dress better.

Then you need to get some professional photos, post them on ModelPages or visit your local modeling agency and look forward to a modeling career.

Good luck!
